WTHR is reporting that Butler Automotive Group President Robert Butler, who frequently appears in the prominent Indianapolis car dealership's television ads, made his first appearance in court with high-profile criminal defense attorney Jim Voyles to face two felony drunk driving-related charges. Butler's car struck two cars parked in the emergency lane along I-465 last weekend on the city's northside, causing serious injury to 25-year old Latin McKinney.

The quick-thinking of Indiana State Trooper David Ploog is credited with saving McKinney's life. Ploog applied a tourniquet to McKinney's leg, which was bleeding profusely when he arrived at the scene before emergency responders were able to get to the scene. Butler recorded a blood alcohol level 0.18, or more than double the legal limit. He faces two felony charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury.
