Legislation Would Force Government To Unseal 28 Pages Of 9/11 Report Proving Saudis Financed Attacks

People wonder why many Americans no longer trust their government. When the 9/11 Commission investigated the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, they discovered the alleged Middle Eastern hijackers involved in the attacks were financed by the Saudi government. The 28 pages of the report which established those financial links were redacted by the Bush administration for national security reasons. If Americans had been told the truth, they might have asked why we were spending trillions on wars in Afghanistan and Iraq if the persons behind the attacks were actually working for the government controlled by the Saudi royal family, a supposed ally with very close ties both personally and financially to several Bush family members, including the two former presidents.

A bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) and Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) would force the U.S. government to declassify the 28 redacted pages of the 9/11 report. President Barack Obama had promised the family members of the 9/11 victims he would release the information when he was running for president but reneged on that promise following his election. Former Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL), who co-chaired the 9/11 panel, supports making the information public. "At virtually every step of the judicial process, when the United States government was called upon to take a position, it has been a position adverse to the interests of United States citizens seeking justice and protective of the government which, in my judgment, was the most responsible for that network of support," Graham told ABC News, referring to Saudi Arabia.

Two former Hoosier members of Congress served on the 9/11 Commission, including Lee Hamilton (D) and Tim Roemer (D), both of whom have been financially rewarded for their ties to the national security apparatus and both of whom have remained silent about the Saudis role in financing 9/11. Hamilton serves on advisory boards for the CIA, Homeland Security Advisory Council and the U.S. Army, as well as consultancy work for Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy and advisory firm headed by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Roemer headed up a national security think tank in Washington, Center for National Policy, for a time after leaving Congress. He was appointed by President Obama as ambassador to India where he devoted most of his energy to securing a jet fighter contract with the Indian government for American companies. He resigned as ambassador when the contract went to a French-based firm instead of Lockheed or Boeing.
